June, 2012 – Nicole

My name is Nicole Buchanan and I am a French Immersion teacher in the Coquitlam School District. I have taught at Mary Hill for the past three years where I have had the pleasure of working with and getting to know Leann Fox. Leann has a son who attends Mary Hill and she has been an important member of Mary Hill’s Parent Advisory Council. Although I have never taught her son, I have built both a working and personal relationship with Leann over the past three years.

Leann does an excellent job running and planning weekly PAC events. She is very organized and has exceptional communication skills. She sends out weekly emails with important reminders for parents and teachers. She is personable and very approachable. As a teacher in the school I am always aware of the different events and fundraisers taking place at the school. If parents have questions I am always able to answer them or know that Leann will be happy to help.

Leann’s friendly and kind disposition makes parents and teachers comfortable working with her, providing the Mary Hill community with a good rapport between parents and teachers. Leann is a hard worker and very ambitious. On top of the weekly PAC events, Leann planned and created the Mary Hill Carnival. This year was our second annual Mary Hill Carnival. It was Leann’s creative and resourceful abilities that make this & other events such a hit for the parents and students. It was her outstanding organizational skills that made the event run smoothly and raise funds for the Mary Hill community.

It is my belief that Leann will be able to take on and organize any event with a creative flair. She is a pleasure to work with and her love and passion for organizing events is apparent as she is always smiling and willing to take on many responsibilities. It is also my belief that a great project manager also knows how to delegate and communicate with others, which Leann does with ease. She will be an asset to any school and community.

If you have any questions, I can be contacted through email at nbuchanan@sd43.bc.

To Whom It May Concern,

I have known Leann for four years and have had the opportunity to get to know her well during this time.  I am a teacher and for two years I was lucky enough to have her assistance as my class representative.  In this position she was the liaison between the parents and myself, she assisted me in the classroom and accompanied my class on field trips.

Leann has always been very involved in our school as a member of the PAC and has been co-president of the PAC for the past two years.  In this position she has been responsible for planning and implementing numerous successful activities and fundraisers such as hot lunches, Purdy’s chocolates and a community-wide carnival.  She is a flexible and organized individual who can multi task and enjoys taking on new challenges.  Leann works well with others or independently.  This year, she also sent out a weekly e-mail to the school community to keep everyone informed as to special dates and events going on at our school.

Leann has fantastic communication skills whether with parents, teachers or children.   She always displays an easy going demeanour and remains calm under pressure.  She is extremely approachable and quickly makes others feel comfortable.  She is kind and always displays a positive attitude.

Leann was always willing to help out in my class.  Whether setting up at the beginning of the year, cleaning at the end of the year, helping with art projects or displays, she made herself available and accessible to our class and school.

Leann is a self- motivated and creative individual.  She loves challenges and learning new things.  I believe that Leann would be an asset to any school community.
